Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of commontape.com. “CommonTape,” “we” and “us” mean CommonTape. By using the site you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.

1. What CommonTape is

CommonTape is building a booking layer that lets AI buyer agents discover, quote, hold and book jobs with US home-services businesses, under the rules each business sets. We serve AI agents acting on behalf of consumers; we are not a consumer app or a marketplace for people to browse. The booking service is not live yet. This is a pre-launch site.

2. The waitlist is not a contract

Joining the founding-merchant or trade waitlist means you’d like to hear from us. It doesn’t obligate you to anything, and it doesn’t obligate CommonTape to onboard you, launch by any date, or offer any particular terms. We may contact you, change the program, or stop it. Separate terms will apply if and when you sign up for the live service.

3. How pricing will work

Planned — not yet in effect. When the booking service launches, listing is free, and discovery, quotes and holds are free. A business pays CommonTape only a flat fee on a booking that is completed and confirmed. There is no subscription, no per-lead fee, and no percentage of the job price. The amount of the fee hasn’t been set; we’ll publish it and give notice before it applies to you.

Customers pay the business directly for the job. CommonTape doesn’t handle job payments and isn’t a party to the job between a customer and a business.

4. Acceptable use

Don’t use the site or, once live, the service to: submit false or misleading information or misrepresent a business; commit fraud; scrape, overload or probe the site or its systems; interfere with others’ use; submit content you don’t have the right to share; or break the law. We may block access that we reasonably believe does any of these.

5. Your information

What we collect and why is in our Privacy Policy. Please submit accurate information; you’re responsible for what you give us.

6. Intellectual property

The CommonTape name, logo, site design and content belong to us or our licensors. You get a limited, revocable permission to view the site for its intended purpose. Feedback you send us may be used to improve our work without obligation to you.

7. Third-party services

The site and the future service rely on third parties (hosting, database, AI platforms). We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their availability or conduct. Being listed with or reachable by an AI platform doesn’t mean any platform will send you business.

8. Disclaimers

The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any business will receive bookings or revenue.

9. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, CommonTape isn’t liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or lost profits or data, arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim is limited to US$100. Nothing here limits liability that can’t legally be limited.

10. Termination

You can stop using the site at any time. We can suspend or end access, or remove waitlist entries, at any time, with or without notice, especially for violations of these terms. Sections that by nature should survive (disclaimers, limits of liability, intellectual property, governing law) will.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and we consent to those courts. Before either side files a claim, please email hello@commontape.com and give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally.

12. Changes and successors

We may update these terms; the new date will show at the top. Continued use after a change means you accept it. For the live service, we’ll give advance notice of material changes to businesses using it.
